In baptism
God calls us out of darkness
and into His marvellous light.
To follow Jesus Christ,
means dying to our sin
and being raised to new life
with Him.
It also means that we recognize
the spiritual battle we are now in with Satan,
and we reject his attitudes
and actions of evil
and turn towards the truth
and purity of God
in Jesus Christ.
Therefore,
I affirm the following:
I believe that Jesus Christ
is the Son of God,
who died for our sins,
was buried
and was raised from the dead.
I have repented of my sins
and turned to Jesus Christ
as my Saviour,
and have received forgiveness for all of my sins
through His grace and power.
I have submitted myself
fully
to Jesus Christ
as my Lord and Master.
I renounce the control of sin
and the influence of Satan,
the devil,
in my life.
I embrace the truth
that my old self has been crucified with Jesus Christ
and I have been raised with Christ
to live a new life in Him.
I have given Jesus
control
over every aspect of my life,
including my relationships,
sexuality,
finances,
and all other areas.
I am determined,
by the grace and power
of God’s Spirit dwelling in me,
to live free
of sinful attitudes and actions,
and to grow
in loving and serving God
and others.
I am allowing Him to change me from the inside-out.
I acknowledge and profess
the Christian faith
as taught in the Bible.
Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
Collossians 3:1-11
3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is your life,
appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature:
sexual immorality, impurity, lust,
evil desires and greed,
which is idolatry.
6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
9 Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed,
in knowledge,
in the image of its Creator.
11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised,
barbarian, Scythian, slave or free,
but Christ is all,
and is in all.
